Other Recommendations: Walk up and down Michigan Avenue (aka “The Magnificent Mile) and State Street for great shopping and dining. Chicago has world class museums so spend a day at the Art Institute or the Museum of Science and Industry or the Chicago Cultural Center. Don’t be afraid to take public transportation- the “L” (our version of the subway) is easy to navigate and connects you to all parts of the city. If it is warm, take a picnic to one of our many beaches along Lake Michigan and enjoy some sun and sand. Chicago has the friendliest people so talk to locals—you will feel apart of the city in no time. You have to either try deep dish pizza, a Chicago hot dog, an Italian beef, or Garrett’s popcorn (ask for the Chicago mix) before you go. They are our staple food groups!
