NAME: Astrid

CITY: Ann Arbor, MI

COUNTRY: USA

YEAR OF TRIP: N/A

HOW LONG WERE YOU THERE?: Local

BEST TIME TO GO: Middle of September-beginning of October

GREATEST CHALLENGE: No/very little public transportation from airport to city

WHAT MAKES THIS PLACE SPECIAL? True “college town” feel. Everyone is always dressed in maize and blue. The block M is an accessory featured in every restaurant, storefront and building. It is best to visit during September-October because any earlier, Ann Arbor is a ghost town because school is not in session.

MUST EAT:

  • Zingerman’s Deli

  • Frida Batido’s

  • The Lunchroom (it’s vegan!)

MUST SEE:

  • The Big House

  • A concert at Hill Auditorium or The Ark

  • Kerrytown

MUST DO:

  •  UM football game

  •  walk in the Arb by the Huron River

  • watch a movie at the Michigan Theatre

Other Recommendations: Take a tour (self-guided or otherwise) around campus. There are many interesting facts along the way—the Peace Corps was founded by JFK on the steps of the Union!
