GREATEST CHALLENGE: High population, expect lines and crowded restaurants/bars on the weekends.
WHAT MAKES THIS PLACE SPECIAL? It’s a great college town, there are 5 colleges within an hour of each other so academia is bustling. Amherst is also not too far from Boston and NYC. Western Massachusetts in general is a beautiful sight to see during the fall.

Other Recommendations: Utilize the PVTA bus system. Most busses are free and they are super convenient! Walk the UMass Campus, it’s enormous and I am still discovering new thing everyday. Amherst can get rowdy so if you’re interested in a more relaxing experience, come to Amherst during the summer.
